Royal BC Museum

Founded in 1886 the Royal BC Museum, located in the Inner Harbour of Victoria, is a profound sight-to-see! Visit the famous ‘Woolly’, a full-scale woolly mammoth model that roamed the earth during the Pleistocene Era, and a broad First Nations set that feature thousands of photos and artifacts from the Indigenous Peoples of British Columbia.

The museum also features the beautiful Emily Carr Art Collection, a renowned landscape painter and author from Victoria (1871 – 1945), who worked with the famous Group of Seven. Step back in time to the Old Town where you can stroll through BC’s urban history – see what the Grand Hotel in Nanaimo looked like in 1890 and smell the cinnamon baking in a 1900s kitchen. Get a sense of what it would be like to be on the HMCS Discovery, a royal navy ship from 1789 that was part of George Vancouver’s exploration of the west coast of North America.
