HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

 

Job Opportunity:

With our ‘Tours & Adventures’ business adapting and growing with the ever-changing tourism industry, we require a Human Resources Manager to work closely with our team to assist with growing and maintaining a happy, healthy and harmonious workforce. Reporting to the General Manager, you bring passion, integrity, adaptability, ethics, and strong soft skills to this dynamic environment.

 

A day in the life of a Human Resources Manager:

  • Strategic planning for operational needs
  • Implement all recruitment activities throughout the year, including placing hiring ads, pre-screening applicants, interviewing potential new hires, attending job fairs, and performing reference checks
  • Source new hiring opportunities and review current hiring channels
  • Maintain up-to-date information on BC employment laws and standards
  • Update and evolve company policies and procedures when required
  • Apply for training grants
  • Lead company Health & Safety program
  • Perform mid-season and end-of-season reviews with team members
  • Ensure team member employment records, vendor/security passes, and skills are current and documented
  • Compose and distribute company memos
  • Handle team member lay-offs and terminations
  • Handle team member grievances, performance successes and concerns, and other confidential matters ethically and effectively
  • Work well independently and as part of a team, staying on schedule and meeting deadlines

 

What you bring:

  • 3-5 years experience working in Human Resources
  • Strong knowledge of BC’s employment laws, standards, and human rights legislation
  • Experience with recruiting and onboarding new employees, issuing employment contracts, and ensuring a smooth transition
  • Proven experience with performance management, disciplinary action, and coaching
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Vancouver’s tourism industry is an asset
  • Proficiency with Mac OS, MS Office Suite
  • A pleasant phone manner
  • Strong ethics, integrity, and accountability
  • Extremely detail-oriented with thorough follow-up skills
  • Previous Health & Safety training is an asset
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be able to work a full time schedule
