Stanley Park – Totem Poles

The Totem Poles in Stanley Park are one of BC’s most visited tourist attractions. Their original purpose was to pass on their stories to younger generations, as a written language did not exist for many Indigenous Peoples until the late 20th century. These nine poles share the legends of various Indigenous Peoples across Canada. Using the interpretive signs provided, travellers can uncover the tales behind these artifacts.
