SAFETY STANDARDS & PREPAREDNESS

At Landsea Tours, we have put the safety, health and security of you, our partners and our employees at the core of the development of our COVID safety and cleaning protocols.

Our approach is collaborative and transparent, supported by medical evidence, within the Travel & Tourism sector as well as with governments and public health authorities.
And protocols will continue to be enhanced based on recommendations and advice from the public health authorities and you, our valued guest.

We are pleased to share with you our safety standards and protocols, which have been approved and awarded the 2020 Safe Travels stamp from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

We love having you as our guest, and with an increased focus on health, hygiene, and reduction of physical contact to embrace a safe travel experience; we just can’t wait to get back on the road with you again!

PRIOR TO TOURING

PRIOR TO TOURING

Whether you are booked on a private charter or public tour, we encourage you to review our preventive measures being taken and be prepared in advance on what to expect on the day of your tour with us, in regards to our enhanced health and safety protocols.

You are encouraged to prepay for your tour or charter. If this is not possible, close contact will be limited, and the sharing of items such as pens, credit cards, and electronic signature pads between our Guides and you will be sanitized after use.

1) Fit to Travel

When meeting your Guide, they will ask you a series of health-related questions to ensure you are fit to travel with us for the day. If you answer yes or refuse to answer any of the screening questions, you will, unfortunately, be unable to join us, and referred to our provincial government self-assessment tool, consistent with Transport Canada COVID-19 travel restrictions. These questions will be included in your emailed booking confirmation.

The Health Questions Are:

  • Do you have a fever and a cough?
  • Do you have difficulty breathing?
  • Have you been refused boarding in the past 14 days due to a medical reason related to COVID-19?
  • Are you the subject of a provincial/state or local public health order?

2) Temperature Screening

Before boarding your vehicle at the hotel, you will undertake a contactless temperature check. Any guest with an elevated temperature of 38 Celius (or 100.4 Fahrenheit) will be unable to board the vehicle, and referred to our local government self-assessment tool for further steps.

3) Face Coverings

We would ask you to wear a non-medical mask/face covering when loading and unloading on the vehicle, and at all times when onboard. We will be happy to provide a complimentary face mask to you if you have forgotten to bring your own. If you cannot wear a face mask for medical purposes, please let us know in advance, so accommodations may be made to vehicle seating to maintain safe physical distancing.

4) Safe Luggage Handling

Our Guides will wear gloves when loading and unloading your luggage. Main touch points on your luggage will also be sanitized prior to loading it.

5) Mindful Loading & Unloading

We will be loading vehicles from the back to front, and unload from the front to the back. This is so we can avoid close contact between you and our other guests as you pass through the aisle.

6) Helping Us All Do Our Healthy Part

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be available for you to use at the front of the vehicle, and encouraged to use when boarding or reboarding the vehicle throughout your day.

WHILE ON THE VEHICLE

1) Distanced Seating

Depending on the size of the vehicle being used, the number of guests on a tour or charter will be reduced to accommodate the current Public Health Officer orders to accommodate physical distancing.

2) Safety Barriers

Where vehicles allow, a physical barrier (e.g., plexiglass or temporary vinyl) will be installed between the front seats and the back seats, in accordance with Transport Canada safety mandates.

3) Please Keep Your Seat

We would ask you please stay in the seat you selected at the start of your day with us. Additional adjustments for seating will be discouraged once all guests are seated.

4) Continuous Cleaning

Throughout your day with us, your Guide will be diligently clean high traffic and high contact touch areas inside the vehicle, at multiple stops throughout the day. This includes door handles, railings, armrests and overhead storage. We encourage you to remove your garbage at the end of your tour or use the provided garbage receptacle on our vehicle. Disinfectant wipes will be available for your use throughout the day.

YOUR GUIDE’S ROLE

YOUR GUIDE’S ROLE

Our Guides genuinely want you to have the time of your life while on tour with us! And their promises to you are:

  • At the tour’s start, they will offer a safety talk, outlining the most up to date Public Health Officer’s guidance on masks, physical distancing and good hygiene practices, to ensure a healthy safe touring day.
  • Throughout the day, they will be cleaning high touch surfaces on the vehicle, and making sure you make good use of our hand sanitizer provided.
  • Ensuring your comfort on the vehicle, so will manage the temperature and airflow set at the highest setting possible to maximize airflow.
  • They will wear disposable gloves when refueling the vehicle.
  • Keep, maintain and clean their own microphone headset, phone and point of sale system.

VISITING ATTRACTIONS & DESTINATIONS

We will be working closely with our valued partners to ensure their current COVID protocols are stringently adhered to, and communicated with you. Communication on protocols and expectations will be ongoing, as measures undertaken are evolved to safely maximize our time at each attraction or destination.

POST TOUR

In the event a guest or employee tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of their tour, our confidential tour manifest will be provided for use by the Provincial Health Office, for contact tracing purposes to notify guests travelling on that particular tour.

And when you are safely back at your accommodation, vehicle exteriors are washed, and interiors cleaned and sanitized by trained personnel. An enhanced vehicle interior disinfectant spray will also be deployed after daily use.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Our employees are literally the driving force of our business, so making sure they are happy and healthy ensures you can confidently enjoy your touring experience.

All employees are required to undertake a daily BC Covid Self Assessment tool, as well as a temperature screening prior to starting their shift. If exhibiting symptoms, employees are mandated to leave work, get tested by a health care professional, and self isolate until symptoms subside, before rejoining our team.

In addition, where feasible, our employees are being scheduled to work in group pods, to limit broader colleague contact.

Our team is being provided with personal protective equipment as needed, and we’re taking measures to reduce workspace multiple contact points.
